As everything comes tumbling down, and the very presence of Humanity in Calendaria is under threat, and our heroes are all in grave danger, it occurs to me that I may not have another chance to explain.

I must admit, when I began to tell the story of our brave hunter a large portion of it already lay behind him. While I regret not beginning our tale earlier, I had hoped that the story itself would answer your burning questions. Well! It appears your questions continue to burn.
